When looking for a hotel, I try to find a good location, a good price and (most importantly) good reviews. I found a gem in the Hotel Nasco, which is quite nice and is in a nice area.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. They gave us some advice on how to get around and sold us the tickets we needed for the street car. Almost directly outside at the next corner was a street car stop that takes you to the city center, where the Duomo is and the Galleria. It was very convenient and got us there in about 10 or 15 minutes. We enjoyed the trip and hopped off a block before the square so we could walk the rest of the way. I highly recommend the hotel and its close proximity to the street car transportation, as a number of different street cars come by and allow you to get most anywhere. Some of the reviews I read said that rooms on the side of the hotel facing the street could be noisy. We had some noise from the street, but not enough to be bothered by it. There was a thunder storm one night but it passed quickly.
The breakfast was good and plentiful. Their breakfast room is downstairs in a very nice dining area. They provided coffee (a coffee machine, but the cappuchino was pretty good), juices, fresh fruit, cereal, yogurt, cereal, rolls, pastries and cheeses. There were also some sliced meats and hard boiled aggs. A very nice selection. I would rate the Hotel Nasco as a definite winner. We enjoyed our stay (we stayed two different times) and would like to stay there again in the future.
