Ristorante Anni Cinquanta In Rome
cwo3ward @ 08/ 12/ 2009

Ristorante Anni Cinquanta (Anni Cinquanta means "50 Years") was recommended by the clerk at our hotel. We walked about five or six blocks to get there. It's a nice big place with a large brick pizza oven. The place was just packed with local people. This is not a place that caters to tourists. There really aren't many tourists around except those staying in the area in the various hotels.

We ordered a plate of gnocchi as an appetizer. I also ordered a main dish of grilled Italian sausage and cheese. The sausage was really good and the cheese was similar to mozzarella. It was a great combination and a lot to eat. My wife had grilled salmon and we shared a 1/2 liter of their house wine. I enjoyed the meal immensely. In fact, we went back for another meal a few days later. A couple came in and sat down at the table next to us.  They each ordered a pizza.  When the pizzas came bubbling hot from the brick oven, I tried not to stare at them, but couldn't help it. They looked so good. Next time I will try the pizza. There were so many wonderful things on the menu. Try using Google to look up Ristorante Anni Cinquanta. You can see a map and also go to the street view and see the front of the place. If you are in Rome, you won't regret eating there. It's where the locals eat.
